What characteristics does a motorcycle mens jacket have to protect the body, hands, and neck of a motorist? Which materials are the best? There is no doubt that motorcycle jackets are essential to protect against the cold and the rain but they also have to be useful for the hot months. If you think we are going to do a little review of what should be the ideal motorbike jacket. Let’s go there:
- Body protection system
For body protection, you should choose one of these two options:
The jacket should have a waterproof or waterproof textile membrane attached to protect from the cold and rain. This membrane must be laminated so that it will never be blocked by rain.
If this textile is not attached to the jacket you should opt for a separate jacket that can be used for rainy or cold days and remove when it is warmer. When it is hot, remove the membrane that incorporates and continue to have a jacket with all protective measures but cooler and lighter. This option also has the advantage that you can start the trip with it in cold weather and remove the layers and store them in the suitcase of your motorcycle as the thermometer goes up.
All motorists know that skin is the material that provides the highest safety, but when it rains or is cold it may not be the best solution. Waterproof textile jackets are the best solution on rainy days but usually end up getting wet and heavy and are not the most suitable for the hottest months. They are very uncomfortable.
- Protection system for the neck
The neck is another of the critical points that must be covered with the cold and the rain. So far each coat of the motorcycle jacket had its own collar. With this system, it was not guaranteed that the water did not penetrate, besides being enough inconvenient for the driving. The current neck systems have been able to join these three layers in a single neck, which guarantees greater protection and comfort. This collar is attached to the outside of the jacket.
- Protection system for fists
Up to now the protection for the cuffs had been designed in three layers: an outer, an impermeable lining and a thermal lining. But the feeling of having these three layers is quite unpleasant. Now there are other solutions that consist of a system of openings between these three layers by means of a rack. In this way, the membrane is anchored to the edge of the fist. This will prevent friction on the wrist and increase waterproofness in this sensitive area.
